Shooter James Willett has continued his rise on the world stage by taking bronze in the men’s double trap at the ISSF Shotgun World Cup in Cyprus.

The NSWIS scholarship holder scored 138/150 in the qualifying round to make the six man semi-final before tying three others with a score of 28/30, including 17 straight to finish the round.

A four man shoot off ensued and after missing his second shot in the shoot off Willett moved to the bronze medal match where he went 26/30 to defeat his Germany opponent by one shot.

Willett’s World Cup bronze comes on the back of the 20 securing a Rio 2016 quota spot for Australia at the Oceania Championships late last year.
