The NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) has announced a performance partnership with leading nutrition brand, Science in Sport (SiS). The partnership was officially launched today by England cricket great, Lord Ian Botham, OBE, the UK’s Trade Envoy.  

Lord Botham, who met with NSWIS chief executive Kevin Thompson, the Institutes Sports Science Manager Alex Natera, Sport Dietitian Holly Edstein, NSWIS scholarship athlete and Australian cyclist Daniel Barber during his visit to the High Performance facility at Sydney Olympic Park, said SiS’s partnership with NSWIS added to its impressive involvement with world leading sporting bodies.  

“It was fantastic to visit the New South Wales Institute of Sport which has supported so many Aussie champions and see firsthand how Science in Sport, a UK sports nutrition business is building global partnerships,” said Lord Botham. “Their world renowned reputation for developing and manufacturing sports nutrition over the past 30 years is incredible. It’s another example of incredible UK Science at work.”

Science in Sport is a UK sports nutrition business that has established a proud reputation over the last 30 years for developing and manufacturing innovative nutrition products. It has forged  partnerships with prestigious sporting organisations – including the EPL’s Tottenham Hotspur, the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks, the Ineos Grenadiers cycling team, the Australian and German Cycling Federations, the Crusaders Super Rugby team, and British Rowing.  

NSWIS CEO, Professor Kevin Thompson, said the partnership provides NSWIS’s scholarship athletes with access to Science in Sport’s Informed Sport tested nutrition supplements and products which will fuel their preparation, performance, and recovery.

Head of Elites at Science in Sport, Thomas Rose, said the company was proud the partnership allowed them to include NSWIS on the list of prestigious sporting teams it is involved with.   

“The NSW Institute of Sport has an outstanding performance history, helping its athletes to win almost 400 junior and senior world championships, 104 Olympic medals, and 206 Paralympic medals,” said Mr Rose.  

“Science in Sport is proud to support the Institute, especially as their athletes and support staff strive to continue with this success at the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
