The Netball NSW Waratahs settled for silver in the Grand Final of the 2019 Deakin University Australian Netball League (DUANL), going down by a sole point to the Victorian Fury.

In what was the game of the season the Fury looked down and out in the final quarter, trailing by three goals after leading for most of the match, but dug deep in the dying minutes to find a way past the dogged Waratahs and grab an unforgettable 54-53 victory.

For the Waratahs it was a silver medal finish to their season, but young attacker Sophie Dwyer (NSWIS) was very impressive, taking out the Finals Most Valuable Player award.

The Fury led for the majority of the contest, grabbing the ascendency in the second quarter, with goal shooter Emma Ryde picking up where she left off yesterday.

Netball NSW Waratahs hung tough and chipped away at the margin, tying things up with a goal from goal attack Dwyer inside the last two minutes of the final quarter.

Throwing everything at the Victorians in the final moments, New South Wales were unable to come up with a turnover, leaving the visitors with silver.
