4x100m relay team of Josh Conias, Thomas Booth, Xavier Collins and Marcus Da Silva win gold at the 2024 Junior Pan Pacs in Canberra.

It took until the final race of the night but the Junior Dolphins claimed their second gold of the Junior Pan Pacific Championships in Canberra courtesy of the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay on Friday 23 August 2024.

A heroic final lap from NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) athletes Marcus Da Silva saw Australia overtake United States anchor Campbell McKean and touch the wall first – his split of 48.55 the quickest of the quartet featuring Joshua Conias (50.57), Thomas Booth (49.63) and Xavier Collins (49.79) for a gold-medal time of 3:18.54.

The US held on for second with Canada third.

The Junior Dolphins women’s 4x100m freestyle relay team won silver with Milla Jansen clocking 53.81, a PB, and Hannah Casey (54.84), NSWIS athlete Lillie McPherson (56.32) and Inez Miller (54.12, a PB) touching in 3:39.09.

It took a Junior Pan Pacs record from the United States – 3:36.49 – to prevent the Australians from claiming gold.
