NSWIS mogul skier Britteny Cox claimed her first world championship medal over the weekend after winning bronze at the 2015 Ski and Snowboard World Championships in Austria.

The 20 year old became just the second Australian female to medal in the moguls at a world championship, putting together three solid runs to score 81.98 points and share the podium with Canadian Justine Dufour-Lapointe and American Hannah Kearney.

“I think what helped me today was that I was having so much fun. I was relaxed and I was confident,” Cox said to the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia.

“I trusted my training and I trusted the feedback I was getting from my coaches and that gave me confidence. So when I was in the start gate I just went for it."

Cox’s fellow NSWIS athletes Nicole Parks and Matthew Graham were also in action, with Parks finishing 29th in the women’s event and Graham taking 16th in the men’s event.

Earlier in the championships, NSWIS snowboarders Alex Pullin and Belle Brockhoff finished sixth and seventh respectively in the men’s and women’s snowboard cross, with Cam Bolton 15th and Jarryd Hughes 31st in the men’s snowboard cross.

Half-pipe riders Kent Callister and Nate Johnstone finished sixth and 12th in the men’s half-pipe event, while Torah Bright finished sixth in the women’s event.
