Eleanor Patterson and Nicola Olyslagers on their selection to the 2024 Australian Olympic Team.

NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) athlete and 2022 World Champion Eleanor Patterson is in Paris ready to contest the women’s high jump.

In the recently published NSWIS Lights Up athlete documentary series, Patterson examines the deeper issues of being an elite athlete by defining athletic courage, delving into mindfulness and the importance of being in the moment during competition.

Patterson also discusses her insights into the ‘conviction of self’ and the importance of an athlete appreciating that in an elite field where everyone has worked hard, is talented, and capable, an extra dimension is required to triumph.

“Everyone’s worked hard. Everyone’s talented, and everyone’s got the capabilities within them.

It bubbles down to who can hold their cool on the day . . . who can be in the moment and have the conviction of self.“ Eleanor Patterson OLY & 2022 World High Jump Champion.

Patterson and fellow NSWIS athlete Nicola Olyslagers will contest the qualification phase of the women’s high jump of the 2024 Olympic Games on Day 7 – from 6:15pm 2 August 2024 AEST.
