NSWIS water polo player Pascalle Casey was given the honour of leading the Australian team at the opening ceremony of the World University Games (Universiade) in Taipei on Saturday.

Casey was chosen to lead the 184 strong team of Australian student athletes into the 29th running of the games – with over 10,000 athletes competing in a variety of sports.

The 2017 Universiade will be Casey’s third, and she will be hoping for a similar result to the previous games in Korea two years ago, when she was an integral part of the Uniroos team that took water polo gold.

Casey was shocked and honoured to have been given the role. “The opening ceremony is amazing, every time even thinking about it I get goose bumps because it’s an experience that is hard to beat,” she said.

Casey joins a number of other NSWIS athletes and coaches in Taipei – stay tuned on this website and NSWIS social media to find out how they get on.
