New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS) dynamic duo Ellie Cole and Ruby Drogemuller have opened Australia’s medal account at the 2024 World Aquatics Junior Diving Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The pair finished second in the 10m synchronised event to the Mexican pairing of Abigail Gonzalez Roel and Rut Elisa Paez Manjattez a mere by 0.54 points. Great Britain finished in third position.

Cole 18, who finished seventh in her Olympic debut in Paris, and Drogemuller continue to build on their outstanding partnership which saw them win gold at the 2024 Canada Cup of Diving and the 2024 American Cup earlier this year.

The pair are members of a 15-strong squad, the largest Australia has taken to a World Aquatics Junior Diving Championships. 

The Sixth edition of the Champs is featuring over 250 competitors from over 40 nations and will run from Sunday November 24 to Monday December 2 at the Júlio Delamare Aquatic Park in Rio de Janeiro.
